David Bowie didn’t sweep the Fisher Cats, but the Bowie Bay Sox did

BOWIE, Md. – The Bowie Bay Sox completed their sweep of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Thursday with a 9-4 victory.

Bowie snatched five runs over the first two innings, highlighted by the second Yusniel Diaz home run in as many days.

An Ademar Rifaela triple added another three runs in the fourth, with Preston Palmeiro’s tenth double of the year giving the Bay Sox their ninth run of the game in the eighth inning.

A three-run homer by Kevin Smith in the seventh prevented a Bowie shutout, with Smith scoring again on a fielding error in the ninth.

Patrick Murphy (4-7) was on the hook for all but one of Bowie’s runs, giving up 10 hits and a pair of walks during his four-inning appearance for New Hampshire.

Murphy took the loss while Marcos Molina (4-5) was the winner, scattering five hits over seven innings of work.

It was a tough night at the plate for the Fisher Cats beyond Smith’s evening, with four Bay Sox collecting more than one hit. Diaz also had two walks to go along with his home run.

New Hampshire travels to Richmond to take on the Flying Squirrels Friday night at The Diamond. LHP Zach Logue (3-3, 3.31 ERA) goes for the ‘Cats while the Squirrels have tabbed RHP Caleb Baragar (2-0, 2.45 ERA) as their starter.
