SHAPLEIGH, MAINE  – The body of a Manchester man who was reported missing  Monday from a vacation rental in Maine was found Aug. 18 by a dive team near Treasure Island.

First-responders recovered the body of Richard Fraser, 65, of Manchester at about 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the bottom of Square Pond.

“Preliminary reports show that the man either rented or owned a cottage on Treasure Island and had disappeared the previous evening,” York County Sheriff William King said in a prepared statement. “Family members looked for him but were unable to locate him.”

Fraser’s body was discovered on the bottom of the lake in approximately 9 feet of water about 90 feet from the shore, according to King.

The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta.
