Blizzard conditions for most of Tuesday, 18+ inches of snow in the forecast

MANCHESTER, NH — School is canceled. Roads are treated. Milk and bread, purchased and ready to sustain us. Now, all we have to do is wait and see what happens, as a winter storm named Stella heads for New Hampshire.

Strobe lights are activated any time the city declares a Snow Emergency parking ban.

The city’s Public Works Director declared a Snow Emergency Tuesday, that will be in effect from 10 p.m. March 14 until 6 a.m. March 15. A Snow Emergency requires residents to move vehicles from all city streets, or be towed and impounded. Strobe lights at traffic signal intersections will be flashing anytime a Snow Emergency is in effect. 

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning which remains in effect from 7 a.m. Tuesday March 14 to 5 a.m. Wednesday March 15.

What to expect: Heavy snow with accumulations of 18 to 24 inches.

Snow will begin sometime after 5 a.m. The heaviest snow and most significant impacts are expected Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday night. Snow will taper off early Wednesday. Temperatures will hover in the mid-20s with north winds 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 45 mph. Expect dangerous travel conditions at times, and strong wind gusts which may lead to scattered power outages.

According to the Weather Underground, a secondary storm is looming for Saturday, bringing another 6-8 inches of snow.
