MANCHESTER, NH – When he was just 22 years old, Randy Pierce unexpectedly lost his vision over the course of two short weeks due to a devastating neurological disease. When he turned 39, the same illness returned, confining him to a wheelchair. Over the next two years, Pierce worked to regain his strength to become the first blind hiker to summit all of NH’s forty-eight 4,000 foot mountains, run two Boston Marathons, compete in multiple “Tough Mudder” obstacle courses and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with the help of his team of 10 friends and his guide dog by his side.

On November 9, Pierce brings his story of overcoming adversity as keynote speaker at The Moore Center’s Annual Celebration. The event will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Brady Sullivan Plaza, 3rd Floor, 1000 Elm Street in Manchester.

“We could not be more thrilled to welcome Randy to The Moore Center’s Annual Celebration to share his inspirational story with us,” said Paul Boynton, the organization’s president and chief executive officer. “This event is an incredibly meaningful one for us as we celebrate our rich history, say thank you to our many partners and share our mission of creating opportunities for a good life. Randy’s journey has been enriched by the team of collaborators he’s had by his side and is living proof that when we are there for one another, we can all be successful.”

Pierce was born and raised in New Hampshire and is president of 2020 Vision Quest, a federally recognized 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to lead and inspire students and professionals to reach beyond adversity and achieve their peak potential. Funds raised benefit two organizations that serve the visually impaired community: Future in Sight and Guiding Eyes for the Blind.

Tickets for The Moore Center’s Annual Celebration are $65 and include a cocktail reception from 5 to 6:15 p.m. and refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. The program runs from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. Register here or call 603-206-2722 for more information. Revenues from the event support The Moore Center programming. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Seating is limited, so individuals are encouraged to register early.
