MANCHESTER, NH — A basement fire reported by a neighbor did extensive damage to a home on Lilac Court Sunday.
At about 12:13 p.m. crews were dispatched to 53 Lilac Court after a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the back and front of the 2½-story single-family home.
Five engines and three trucks responded to the fire.
When Companies arrived they discovered a fire in the basement that had extended to the kitchen on the first floor. Firefighters quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire and performed an extensive overhaul of the structure. There was serious fire damage to the finished basement and first-floor kitchen along with smoke and heat damage throughout the dwelling.
The fire is under investigation and the occupants will be staying with family.
