LONDONDERRY, NH — The Aviation Museum of New Hampshire was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from the Mary Louise Billings Trust to expand the museum’s current STEM-based education programs for students in local elementary and middle schools.

This will allow the museum to grow its existing School Outreach Program, which launched in 2015 and successfully served 700 students from 18 schools. The outreach program is offered to schools at no cost.

We hope to inspire the next generation of pilots and aviation enthusiasts. We extend great appreciation to the Billings Trust FBO NH Charities for their generous investment in our work,” said Jessica Pappathan, the Museum’s Executive Director.

The school outreach program covers various topics, including Forces & Motion of Flight, Aviation History, and Careers in Aviation. The program begins with an age-appropriate presentation on those topics, proceeds to a demonstration, and then involves all the students in building and flying their own paper airplanes.

The Aviation Museum of NH’s mission is to preserve New Hampshire aviation history through dynamic and hands-on exhibits and programs. The Museum engages the public through learning opportunities in aviation science and technology and offers a unique cultural experience that inspires aviation enthusiasm in people of all ages.

The Aviation Museum of NH is located at 27 Navigator Road, Londonderry, NH, 03053.  The museum’s regular hours of operation are Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday 1 – 4 p.m. For more information call 603-669-4820, email avmuseum@nhahs.org, or visit the museum’s website
