The Ancient Fire patio is a great place to “mead” your friends for a pint!

MANCHESTER, NH –  August 3 is International Mead Day and Manchester’s only meadery will be celebrating all weekend! Ancient Fire Mead & Cider is looking forward to its second Mead Day celebration since their opening in March 2018.

“Last year we were not quite sure what to expect, it was wonderful to see so many people coming together and celebrating mead,” said Margot Phelps, who owns and operates Ancient Fire Mead & Cider with her husband, Jason.

This year, Ancient Fire is starting the celebration early. On Thursday the taproom will have its first-ever Trivia Night hosted by The Tap Handle Show and featuring some honey, mead and bee trivia to stay on theme. For Friday, visitors are encouraged to dress as their favorite Ancient Fire Mead & Cider product for a costume contest.

“Customers are always commenting on our fun product names and unique flavors, so we thought it would be fun to let their creativity show,” Margot Phelps said.

The big day on Saturday will feature a luau theme celebrating the release of Ancient Fire’s first meads made from a recent shipment of Hawaiian honey. “Made by Fire” a mead made from Lehua Blossom Honey and “This IS Love” with Lehua Blossom Honey and Pineapple. Both of these new products are 7 percent ABV draft style meads made with honey from Hamakua Apiaries of Hawaii. There are a total of seven draft meads available in the taproom that can be served by the flight or by the pint. The Saturday celebration will also include pulled pork tacos from Gabi’s Smoke Shack as well as a demonstration of how to make mead at home.

Ancient Fire launched its outdoor patio space with umbrellas and picnic tables this summer, and with nice weather predicted for the weekend it will be the perfect place in Manchester to “Mead Up” with your friends. “We opened Ancient Fire Mead & Cider to offer people a taproom experience where they can have a good time and enjoy mead in a fun, social environment. Not just on International Mead Day, but throughout the year,” said Jason Phelps.

Ancient Fire Mead & Cider is located at 8030 South Willow Street, Building 1, in Manchester. The Taproom is open Thursdays and Fridays 4  to 9 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Product is also available to go in Growlers or by the bottle.
