MANCHESTER, NH – More than 160 athletes from across New Hampshire, New England, and beyond will gather at the track facility at Memorial High School this Sunday for the 31st annual NH Senior Games (NHSG) Track and Field Event. All meet officials are USATF certified.  Automatic timing is provided Lancer Timing.

“The Track and Field Meet is always a highlight of the games,” said Jim Eddinger, Board Chair- NH Senior  Games.  “Along with Pickleball and Basketball, this is one of our most popular events.”  He added that athletes 50 years of age and older who place in the top four in their age group will qualify for the 2019 National Senior Games to be held in Albuquerque, NM.

Sports/events to be held on Sunday include:

  • Sprinting: 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m Dashes,
  • Running:  800m, 1500m and 5000m Runs
  • Walking:    1500m Race Walk, Power Walk
  • Throwing: Discus, Shot Put, Javelin and Weight Throw
  • Jumping:    Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump and Pole Vault

Eddinger noted that same day registrants (via cash or check) are welcome but urged those planning on signing up on Sunday to arrive at 8:00 a.m. to give themselves plenty of time to sign up and prepare for competition.

The mission of the New Hampshire Senior Games (NHSG), formerly known as the Granite State Senior Games (GSSG) is to promote, organize and effectively develop physical challenges, as they relate to the NH Masters Athlete and the 50+ population of the state of New Hampshire, undertake related activities benefitting the well-being of adults as appropriate and focusing on the development of active and healthy lifestyles.  Our mission is accomplished by encouraging fitness and by providing athletic competition in a variety of sports, clinics and creative pursuits.

Founded in 1987, Granite State Senior Games, Inc. is a not-for-profit (501c-3) all volunteer sports and fitness organization governed by a Board of Directors.
