MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police are investigating three armed robberies Wednesday night in which similar suspect descriptions were given.

At 6:10 p.m. on March 18 a man armed with a gun entered the Crosstown Variety, 270 Amory Street wearing a black mask.

The clerk told police the robber pointed a handgun at her and she was in fear for her safety and immediately began to remove cash from the register. The suspect allegedly threatened to “kill her” if she did not comply. He also demanded cigarettes and ultimately fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and three packs of cigarettes.

He was wearing a black mask, black jacket (no hood) and black pants. She was not sure if he fled on foot or left the scene in a vehicle.

A second armed robbery was reported to police at 8:30 p.m. at Union Street Market, 621 Union St., and involved a similar modus operandi. However, the suspect in this robbery was described as a caucasian male. He was seen wearing a black mask and a black winter hat. He was described as wearing a black jacket, dark blue jeans, black sneakers with a white base and a white stripe going down the middle of the right sneaker.

The clerk told police he was standing at his cash register when the robber entered the store and pointed a black handgun at him while demanding cash. The suspect allegedly threatened to shoot him if he failed to comply with his demand for cash.

Police believe the suspect fled in an older model Champagne colored Volvo. It was described as a four door sedan and may have had a second occupant in it as they fled the scene. Police are actively investigating the robberies in an attempt to determine or eliminate the possibility of a connection between the suspects and robberies.

A third robbery was reported at 777 Hooksett Road at approximately 10:40 p.m. at 777 Xpress. The clerk told police the robber, a male, walked into the store wearing a black mask and a black hooded sweatshirt while armed with a black and silver handgun.

The clerk told police the suspect was approximately 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 inches tall and weighed approximately 170 pounds and spoke with an Eastern European accent. The robber walked up to the register and demanded cash while pointing a handgun at him and demanding cash. However, unlike the first two robberies, the suspect did not make additional remarks or threats.

Police are investigating the possibility that the three robberies are connected. Anyone with information should contact Manchester Police CrimeLine at 623-4040 or submit a form using the online reporting form.
