April 9 event honors Navy SEAL Blake Marston, benefits Bedford Little League

BEDFORD, NH — A fundraiser to honor the memory of Navy SEAL William “Blake” Marston will be held on April 9, 2019, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Murphy’s Taproom, Route 101, Bedford. This event is to raise funds to support the Bedford Little League and to bring the “Positive Coaching Alliance” program to Bedford.

The program will benefit and educate volunteer coaches to instill very important attributes in the children involved in Bedford Little League. A silent auction and 50/50 raffle will also be part of the evening. Murphy’s Taproom will be donating a portion of food and drink sales to this cause.

Blake Marston was an accomplished athlete starting with Bedford Little League, soccer league and Manchester West Raiders football team. One of Blake’s most cherished memories was being the third baseman in the 1995 Bedford Little League State Championship team.

He was also the captain of the 1997 New England Championship Babe Ruth team, which went on to the World Series in Albany, NY. He was a graduate of Stonehill College. William “Blake” Marston admirably served our country and was killed in a training accident in Florida on January 10, 2015, at the age of 31.

Petty Officer Marston was a decorated combat veteran with numerous awards, including:

The Joint Service Commendation Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals with combat “V”, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Star in lieu of second award, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with Bronze Star, NATO Medal, Navy Expert Rifle Ribbon and Navy Expert Pistol Ribbon.
