Another prisoner ‘walks away’ from Calumet House

UPDATE: Feb. 3, 8 a.m.: A spokesman for the NH State Prison in Concord reports that at approximately 6:20 p.m., Feb 2 Robert Lee Clayton was arrested in Auburn by the NH State Police.  No other details were released at this time.

MANCHESTER, NH –   Another minimum security inmate was reported missing from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester.

Robert Lee Clayton, 44, of Brattleboro, Vt., was reported missing from the residential group home on Lowell Street at approximately 2 p.m. on February 2.   He did not have permission to leave the facility and after a search he was placed on escape status at 3:30 pm.

Another inmate, Khyree Rasheed Thompson  “walked away” from the Calumet House on Jan 30, returned on his own 12 hours after he was placed on escape status.

Clayton is described as a white male, 5-foot-6-inches tall, 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.  He is currently serving three concurrent 2 ½ – to 15 year sentences for robbery out of Merrimack County Superior Court.  He has previous prison sentences for kidnapping and resisting arrest.  He was first admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison on October 18, 2007.  He had been paroled from his earlier convictions on July 28, 2013 and was eligible for parole from his current convictions on January 24, 2016.  His maximum release date is July 24, 2028.

The New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau and the New Hampshire State Police are investigating.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact their local law enforcement agency or the New Hampshire State Prison at 603-271-1801.

A “walkaway” is considered an escape, which is a Class B felony punishable by 3 ½ – 7 years in prison.
