Another Calumet House inmate ‘walks away’

MANCHESTER, NH – Another work release resident is missing from the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit in Manchester. 

Christopher Michael Lanagan, 33, of Manchester, ran from the facility at approximately 11:30 p.m, on Aug. 8, 2017, after correctional staff questioned him about unauthorized property in his possession.  He was placed on walk-away status a short time later.

Lanagan is described as a white male, 5-foot-7 inches tall and 190 pounds.  He has dark hair and blue eyes.  He has multiple tattoos on his neck, arms, forearms, and chest.

Lanagan is the 16th inmate placed on “walk-away” status from the Calumet House since January 2016.

He was sentenced in Rockingham County Superior Court to serve 2 to 5 years with 261 days of time served credited to his sentence for Operating after Being Certified a Habitual Offender.  He was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison on April 19, 2016 and is eligible for parole on November 9, 2017.  His maximum release date will be July 30, 2020.  

The Calumet House opened in 1979 and has 13 employees. According to information on the NH DOC website, Calumet, located at 126 Lowell St., has a capacity of 64 male inmates. The population as of July 1, 2017 was listed at 69, and includes inmates who are placed on work release, furlough programs, education/study release programs and are considered minimum security. 

 

The New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau and the New Hampshire State Police are investigating.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact New Hampshire State Police or their local law enforcement agency.  Walking away from a work release transitional housing unit can result in a criminal charge of Escape, a Class B felony, punishable by 3 ½ – 7 years in prison.
