5750MANCHESTER, NH – The Footrace for the Fallen presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield will be held October 14, 2018. The race honors Manchester’s fallen officers, Sgt. Henry McAllister, Inspector William Moher, Officer Ralph Miller, and Officer Michael Briggs, and all officers who have been killed in the line of duty. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Manchester Police Athletic League (MPAL), a center-city organization that brings cops and kids together through athletic, educational, and recreational opportunities to build champions in and out of the gym, and the Hundred Club of New Hampshire, which provides scholarships and financial assistance to the widows and children of New Hampshire law enforcement officers and firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“This race brings together law enforcement and civilian runners from across New Hampshire and beyond to recognize the sacrifice made by our fallen officers and to remind their families that they aren’t forgotten,” said Officer John Levasseur, Manchester Police Officer, MPAL Coordinator, and Race Director. “It’s also a great way to support the youth of Manchester and make a difference in kids’ lives.”

The race will start in front of the Manchester Police Department (405 Valley Street, Manchester, NH) and end inside Gill Stadium (396 Valley Street, Manchester, NH). Bib pick-up begins at 8:30 a.m. and the race kicks off at 10:15 a.m. Registration is $25; all ages and abilities are welcome. The first 500 people to register will also receive an exclusive race t-shirt. After runners cross the finish at the 20 yard line of the football field, they will be able to then enjoy time with friends and family with food, drinks, prizes, and awards. The Manchester Police Footrace for the Fallen, planned by a committee of police officers and civilians, began in 2007 to honor Manchester police officers who have died in the line of duty. Since then, thousands of runners from across New Hampshire have participated and helped honor Manchester’s fallen officers.
