MANCHESTER, NH – A young bear created a stir on the city’s West Side Sunday, and was captured – at least, on film – by an Animal Planet crew, before ambling back into the woods.
NH Fish and Game were called to 175 Kimball St. early Sunday afternoon for a report of a bear in the backyard. According to the homeowner and neighbors, they were alerted to the bear’s presence after dogs started barking.
The bear went up a tree and remained there for quite some time before working its way down from the tree. Conservation officers were on scene as well as film crews from the popular Animal Planet Northwoods Law, who have been chronicling NH Fish & Game department.
Conservation officers monitored the bear, who stopped at the bottom of the tree, retreated, then ran to another tree.
In the end, the bear came down from its perch on his own, ran up the driveway and pushed along the neighborhood streets as residents watched. No tranquilizers were needed, as it turned out to be an “all natural” solution, when the bear eventually returned to some neighboring woods.
