Allen, Gillis named as interim co-superintendents of schools

MANCHESTER, NH – Amy Allen and Jennifer Gillis assumed the role of Interim Co-Superintendents of the Manchester School District on May 1.

At their April 8, 2019 meeting, the Manchester School District Board of School Committee unanimously voted to appoint Allen and Gillis as interim co-Superintendent of Schools.

Allen and Gillis, who have served as Assistant Superintendents for the district, each bring extensive experience to this shared role.

Prior to being Assistant Superintendent, Allen was Principal of Parker Varney Elementary School from January of 2013 to October of 2017, during which time Parker-Varney was named 2015 NH School of the Year, and 2016 National School Innovation and Change awardee.

Gillis was the Principal at Southside Middle School for four years and has led the design, adoption, and implementation of the district’s emergency response management plan.

Together they have a combined 15 years serving the students of the Manchester School district.

Allen and Gillis said that they are eager to continue the work that they and former Superintendent Vargas have been leading and are committed to ensuring that they provide stability and consistency for our students, staff, and families.
