MANCHESTER, NH – Anthony Alford homered and drove in three runs and Sean Reid-Foley picked up his first win of the season as the Fisher Cats topped Hartford 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Reid-Foley (1-1) allowed one run on three hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out five in his fourth start of 2017.
Hartford, bidding for a series sweep, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Max White doubled, advanced to third on a fly ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan McMahon.
New Hampshire (7-9) would take the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning. Gunnar Heidt doubled, Roemon Fields walked and Tim Lopes singled for the first run. Fields scored on a sacrifice fly by Richard Urena and Lopes came home on a single by Alford to make it 3-1 in favor of the Fisher Cats.
Alford’s homer, a two-run shot, capped a three-run fifth inning which staked the Fisher Cats to a 6-1 lead.
White hit his second home run of the season for Hartford (6-10), a solo shot off Fisher Cats reliever Alonzo Gonzalez to make it 6-2 in the top of the seventh inning.
New Hampshire’s final run came across in the bottom of the seventh when Lopes, who had walked, advanced to third on an error and scored on a double play grounder.
Blake McFarland recorded two strikeouts in 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for New Hampshire before turning it over to Jose Fernandez to finish up.
