MANCHESTER, NH – Mid-March Snow Madness is looming large, with current weather guesstimators calling for a big snow event for our area on Tuesday into Wednesday.

Among other inconveniences, a big snow means travel cancelations for many who have been planning their annual March getaways. USA Today reports most major airlines have already canceled flights for Monday as the late-season snowstorm bears down on us.

Southwest Airlines say they expect to ground nearly all flights in the Northeast on Tuesday, according to the article, and it’s likely other carriers will follow suit.

Looks like we’ll be buried by 6 p.m. on Tues. March 14.

No official word yet from Manchester-Boston Regional Airport or Logan International Airport about storm preparations, but airports generally do all they can to stay open for any incoming or departing flights that remain on schedule.

The National Weather Service has already announced a Winter Storm Watch is in effect for New Hampshire starting Tuesday morning, March 14, through Wednesday evening, March 15.

Currently we’re looking at a dump of heavy snow with accumulations greater than six inches, and more likely to produce snow totals in the double digits. Snow will begin Tuesday morning with the heaviest snow and most significant impacts expected Tuesday night. Snow will taper off Wednesday, with temperatures hovering in the 20s.

We’ll keep you updated as we get closer to storm day.
