MANCHESTER, NH – Ailey II, an American cultural treasure, ignites the stage with athleticism and artistry. Critically acclaimed choreography explores the human condition, where joy and sorrow are expressed through bodies in motion. Under the eye of artistic director Troy Powell, 12 dancers blend classical and contemporary technique into an unforgettable performance. Show is Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dana Center for the Humanities at Saint Anselm College.

Founded in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, the company embodies his pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training, and community programs for all people. Under the direction of Sylvia Waters from 1974 to 2012, Ailey II flourished into one of the most popular modern dance companies, combining a rigorous touring schedule with extensive community outreach programs.
