8th Annual Blues Challenge May 7 at Strange Brew

MANCHESTER, NH – The Granite State Blues Society will host it’s 8th Annual Blues Challenge on May 7 at Strange Brew, 88 Market St., Manchester. 

posterThe acts entered in the challenge will each perform a 25-minute set. There will be three winners announced on the day of the competition – one band, one solo/duo and one youth act. Winners will go on to compete at the four-day 2018 International Blues Challenge on Beale Street in Memphis in January.

The May 7th competition will be judged by professionals in the blues music business.

The 2018 International Blues Challenge in Memphis will be the 34th year that Blues musicians from around the world will compete for cash, prizes, and industry recognition. This is the world’s largest gathering of Blues acts and is produced by The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations. At the 2017 competition earlier this year, more than 260 acts from 38 states and 14 countries performing, filling the clubs up and down Beale Street.

The Granite State Blues Society’s mission is to celebrate blues performance, and expand awareness of the Blues as a uniquely American art form in the State of New Hampshire, in order to preserve our country’s blues heritage. We are a 501 C(3) organization and an affiliate of the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN.
