MANCHESTER, NH – On June 11 at about 8:05 p.m. police officers were dispatched to the area of Sheridan Emmit Park for a report of a large group of kids threatening a man and fighting. Responding officers encountered a large number of juveniles on bicycles that fled the area upon MPD arrival. After a brief investigation it was discovered that the group was acting disorderly and the adult male was able to fend the group off. The adult male did not wish to pursue any criminal charges.At about 8:52 p.m. police dispatch received multiple calls for a fight in the area of 207 Pine St. It was reported that a group of 20-30 juveniles were fighting and that weapons were possibly involved. Officers McDonald and Olsen were assigned to a plainclothes patrol and arrived first. They observed what appeared to be a juvenile male being beaten with a stick by another group of juveniles. The officers attempted to intervene at which point the juvenlies began to run/bike away. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit and eventually arrested a juvenile male in the area of Summer Street.
Several other units arrived and attempted to detain others involved. The officers encountered disorderly behavior and riot-like conditions. Reports were received of juveniles throwing rocks at buildings and swinging scooters and sticks around like weapons at anyone that tried to intervene. Several foot pursuits were initiated and a total of eight juveniles were arrested. It was reported by officers that many of the juveniles seemed to be filming themselves as officers were in pursuit and some were shouting “Bike Life” as the officers were in chase.
The arrested juveniles include eight young men who cannot be identified due to their ages.
