Arrests in ‘Operation Breakfast Club’ prostitution sting at Enright Park

MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police continue to work on improving the quality of life for all Manchester residents, while addressing prostitution complaints in the area of Enright Park. Members of the Community Policing Division, Patrol Division and Special Enforcement Division completed a prostitution sting on Sept. 18, which resulted in eight arrests. “Operation Breakfast Club” commenced in the early morning hours Monday, and is the third prostitution sting since June of this year.

Below is a police narrative of the arrests:

Monday’s operation ended with eight arrests, including six men and two women. All were charged with prostitution-related charges, and all posted bail. The first arrest occurred at 7:50 a.m. when a plainclothes female officer was approached by a male subject who solicited sexual favors for money. Edwin Arroyo Batista, 43, of Manchester approached the undercover officer on Lincoln Street. He allegedly agreed to exchange money for sexual favors, so a marked police unit pulled him over a short time later. He was arrested without incident and charged with prostitution-related offenses. He posted a $500.00 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 19, 2017.

A plainclothes officer was standing in front of Enright Park at 7:55 a.m. yesterday when a male in a black GMC Denali stopped on Lincoln Street. She approached the truck and spoke with Andre Benson, 49, of Manchester. They agreed to exchange money for sexual favors, so she gave a signal for a marked unit to stop the vehicle. A uniformed officer arrested Benson without incident and charged him with prostitution-related offenses. He was released on $500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 12, 2017.

Andres Santos Ventura, 42, of Manchester approached a plainclothes officer as she stood on Manchester Street, near Beech Street approximately 9:40 a.m. Monday. He allegedly solicited sexual favors for money, so a marked unit conducted a motor vehicle stop on Central Street and arrested him without incident. He was charged with prostitution-related offenses and posted $500 personal recognizance bail a short time later. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 20, 2017.

The next arrest occurred at 10:30 a.m. in the area of Beech Street and Manchester Street. Paul Gagnon, 74, of Franklin,  approached a plainclothes officer and allegedly offered her money in exchange for sexual favors. He was pulled over a short time later and taken into custody without incident. He was released on $500 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 20, 2017.

Detective Aaron Brown was operating an unmarked police vehicle when he observed a female standing on Manchester Street, near Maple Street approximately 11:30 a.m. She made eye contact with him, so he stopped on Manchester Street and she approached his vehicle. She got into his car and eventually agreed to exchange money for sexual favors, so he signaled for a marked unit. The officers pulled them over and arrested Ashley Berube, 19, of Manchester without incident. She was charged with prostitution and released on $500 personal recognizance bail. She is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 19, 2017.

The last arrest occurred at 3 p.m. in the area of Manchester Street, between Beech and Maple Streets. A plainclothes officer was standing on Manchester Street when a man operating a blue sedan pulled up to her and engaged in a conversation. The operator, Gary Gemmott, 59, of Franklin, agreed to exchange money for sexual favors, so he was stopped a short time later by a marked patrol unit and arrested without incident. He was charged with prostitution and released on $500 personal recognizance bail. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 24, 2017.
