Police are looking for an alleged robber who grabbed a purse from a car as the female victim was sitting inside the vehicle, near 142 Central Street, in the early hours of June 28.

Officer Tyler Shaw took the complaint from the woman, who said the robbery happened several hours earlier.

She told police a black male, about 5-foot-6 or 5-foot-7, with a scruffy beard and several tattoos on his face and body, wearing torn jeans, a white T-shirt, and a camouflage sweatshirt, reached into her open passenger side window as she sat in the driver’s side of her car and grabbed her Coach purse.

She said the purse contained about $720 dollars.

The man then tried grabbing her keys from the ignition, but the woman fought back. She told police she chased him on foot and ended up in a physical fight with him once she caught up with him, suffering minor injuries in the scuffle.

The alleged robber is known to frequent the area of Mike’s Pub and Grub, 155 Lake Ave, according to the victim.
