The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2008 Hyundai Accent operated by a 20-year-old Manchester woman was traveling west on Nelson Street when it collided with a 2008 Saturn Outlook operated by a Massachusetts man, 31, who was traveling south on Tarrytown Road.

The Saturn continued to travel south on Tarrytown Road after the initial crash and collided into an occupied three-family dwelling at 683 Massabesic St.  There was one patient at the original accident scene and 4 patients — 2 adults and 2 children — in a minivan that struck the building.

The two children and one male adult sustained minor injuries and the adult female sustained a serious but not life-threatening leg injury.  She was also 7 months pregnant. All five patients were transported to the Elliot Hospital. The building sustained major structural damage and was deemed uninhabitable.  The two adults in the minivan had to be extricated from the vehicle by Rescue 1 using the Jaws of Life.

The two children who were rear-passengers in the Saturn, ages 2, and 3, were pulled from the wreckage by people at the scene prior to rescuers arrival.

The surrounding roads were closed to traffic while police investigated at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Traffic Unit Collision Reconstruction and Analysis Team. Anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to contact the Manchester Police Department at 603-668-8711.
