MANCHESTER, NH  Intown Manchester is excited to announce they will present the 2019 Downtown Taco Tour on Elm Street, sponsored by Cross Insurance, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

“Intown is incredibly excited to produce the Taco Tour, which is without a doubt one of Manchester’s biggest and most loved events,” says Sara Beaudry, Executive Director, Intown Manchester. “We have met with the Hippo Press, who have graciously passed the torch on to Intown and we will do our best to keep the same formula that has made the Taco Tour what it is!”

“Manchester’s Taco Tour will be organized by Intown Manchester this year,” says Jody Reese, Hippo Press Publisher and Taco Tour founder. “The Hippo started the Taco Tour in 2011 as a way for downtown restaurants to showcase their culinary chops and to bring thousands of people downtown. It succeeded beyond our wildest dreams— so much so that it became too large for us to continue to organize. With the growth of the crowds the event had literally outgrown the sidewalks, and closing Elm Street seemed like the natural next step to keep the event growing and safe.”

“I’m grateful Intown Manchester has stepped forward to continue, and build upon, this festive Manchester tradition,” says Mayor Joyce Craig. “The City of Manchester is working closely with Intown to ensure the tens of thousands of visitors who come to the Queen City for the Taco Tour can have an enjoyable and safe experience.”

The 2019 Taco Tour will close multiple streets this year, including Elm Street, from Bridge Street to Lake Avenue, Hanover Street, from Elm to Chestnut streets, and Lowell Street, from Elm to Chestnut streets – which will allow for a safer experience for pedestrians and more room for restaurants and businesses to host stands.

In addition, this year a free trolley from Great Bay Limousine will transport taco-aficionados to various locations on the Taco Tour, including the Foundry, Fratello’s, Stark Mill, the Currier Art Museum, Fisher Cats Stadium and more. Other new additions include: live music on Elm and Hanover streets, Rock 101 with Greg and the Morning Buzz celebrating 40 years of Rock Radio in Manchester, free samples from the Smoothie Bus, Vertical Entertainment rock climbing wall and bungee jump, and multiple craft vendors.

Intown is proud to announce Cross Insurance as the title sponsor of the 2019 Taco Tour.

“Cross Insurance is incredibly excited to be part of the Intown Taco Tour for the second year in a row. Events like this bring the community together and really highlights the great things about our city, said Chris Sharpe, President, Cross Insurance. “This is a signature event bringing thousands of people to Manchester. It makes sense to be part of it and support Intown however we can.”

Proceeds from the 2019 Taco Tour will benefit Families in Transition – New Horizons, whose efforts make a large impact on the city of Manchester and the community at large.
