All Artists are invited to submit their work
MANCHESTER, NH – Studio 550 Community Art Center invites artists to submit work to a series of themed shows on their 2017 Gallery Call for Entries Calendar. There is a different show every month. People of all backgrounds, ages, and experience are encouraged to apply.
The application, show schedule, and deadlines can be found on the Opportunities page of the Studio 550 website www.550arts.com.The application process is very simple, and there is no application fee for high school or college students.
The next show the Studio is accepting submissions for is Upcycled Art, an exhibit of art made mostly of repurposed materials. The exhibit overlaps with Earth Day and the studio will host workshops (projects TBD) of how to make your own upcycled art. The deadline for submissions is March 6.
Over the course of the rest of the year, some shows simply highlight exquisite and functional handmade artwork (such as the Beautiful Blooms exhibit of jewelry, ceramics, and artwork inspired by flowers for Mother’s Day) while some are meant to provoke thought and discussion. One such exhibit is titled UNITED: States of America, which welcomes work about diversity, unity, or however the maker would like to interpret the open-ended title. Another noteworthy exhibit is Climate Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes: Bowie Tribute, a show about climate change, environment and the role of art and music in that movement.
Studio 550 is hoping for thoughtful interpretations of the themes. Artists of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. All shows, unless otherwise noted on the schedule, are open to all media.
The Gallery at Studio 550 displays work that is beautiful and impeccably well made, yet accessible. There is usually a focus on functional art, because it is art that becomes part of peoples’ everyday lives, but for themed shows exceptions are made.
