2-year-old injured after being struck by van exiting driveway

The child was taken to a Boston hospital with multiple serious injuries.

MANCHESTER, NH – On Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 9:12 a.m. Officer Brianna Miano of the Manchester Police Department reported that an unresponsive 2-year-old male arrived at the Elliot Hospital. Initial reports were that the child was struck by a motor vehicle. The operator and motor vehicle involved in the crash were identified and located. The crash scene was also located on Dwight Street in Manchester..

The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle, a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country van with a single female operator, was backing out of a residential garage when it collided with the child.

The operator of the motor vehicle was uninjured however the child was transported to the Elliot Hospital with multiple serious bodily injuries. The child was subsequently transported to a Boston, Mass., area hospital. The identity of both persons involved is being withheld pending the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Manchester Police Traffic Unit Collision Reconstruction and Analysis Team. Anyone with information regarding this crash is urged to contact the Manchester Police Department at 603-668-8711.
