MANCHESTER, NH — Two women were seriously injured in a crash Wednesday on the Exit 8 on-ramp.
According to NH State Police at 3:43 p.m. on Feb. 20 police responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident where the vehicle had rolled over onto its roof in the tree line in the area of the Exit 8 on-ramp on Interstate 93 southbound in Manchester.
Preliminary investigation shows that the operator, Barbara Peterson, 70, of Stoughton, Mass., was operating, a 2011 Acura TSX, with her passenger, Dorothy Lourie, 80, of Hingham, Mass., when the vehicle drove off the right side of Interstate 93, and continued across the Exit 8 on-ramp where it then struck the guardrail on the right side of the roadway. The motor vehicle continued to flip over the guardrail onto its roof and came to rest in the tree line of the embankment.
Both occupants of the vehicle were trapped inside and had to be extricated by Manchester Fire personnel. The women were transported to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester to receive further medical attention after suffering life-threatening injuries.
Circumstances surrounding this event are still under investigation as it is still unclear at this time why the vehicle went off the roadway.
