MANCHESTER, NH — It was sort of like a Christmas bonus for Manchester Police SWAT team, called upon Dec. 23 to help apprehend a man wanted on several drug and firearms warrants at 330 Porter Street, #2. In the process, they found a second man — also wanted — hiding in a closet, who helped them figure out where the first guy was hiding out.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Friday patrol officers received information that Daniel Rogers, 30, who was wanted on numerous charges, was staying at the Porter Street address. Outstanding warrants for Rogers included: four counts each of felonious use of a firearm and felon in possession of a dangerous weapon; and two counts each receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled drug, and possession of controlled drug with intent to distribute.

Patrol officers and SWAT set up a containment perimeter around the residence, making several attempts to contact Rogers by phone and the PA system. Having no response, SWAT deployed a robot and later a police dog team to check the apartment.

SWAT officers entered the apartment and located James Canney, 52, of Fremont, hiding in a closet. He was wanted out of Hillsborough County Superior Court on a felony capias warrant as a habitual offender.

Canney was taken into custody and will also face the charge of resisting arrest. Canney confirmed to police that Rogers was hiding in the crawl space of the attic. SWAT deployed tear gas, which flushed Rogers from the house.

Rogers was taken into custody without further incident.

In addition to the outstanding warrants, Rogers faces an additional charge of resisting arrest. He will be arraigned in the 9th Circuit District Manchester on December 27, 2016.
