MANCHESTER, NH – Officers responded to Eclipse Bar, 253 Wilson St., for a large fight call at 1:45 a.m. on July 9, 2017. Multiple officers were on scene to disperse the large crowd. Sgt. Richard Brown noticed a male subject arguing with a female, so he separated the two individuals. The female complied and walked away from the area, but the man continued yelling at the departing female while refusing to leave.
Sgt. Brown asked him several times to vacate the area. The man refused, so Sgt. Brown attempted to place him into custody. He was identified as Publio Gonzalez, 32, of Manchester. Gonzalez backed up to a parked vehicle to prevent the officers from placing him in handcuffs. Several officers attempted to place him into custody as he resisted their attempts, so he was transitioned to the ground. He immediately placed his hands underneath his body, which prevented the officers of placing him in handcuffs. The officers continued to struggle with him until a Taser was used to subdue him. He was finally placed into custody and transported to police headquarters.
Gonzalez was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest/detention. He was released on $500 cash/surety bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 15, 2017.
Another individual refused to leave the area as the officers struggled with Gonzalez. Officer Robert Megowen arrested Cosme Pena Cruz, 22, of Manchester. Pena Cruz was charged with disorderly conduct (a violation) and later released on a summons. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 15, 2017.
