Police arrest city man returning from Lawrence, Mass., with heroin

MANCHESTER, NH – Police Special Enforcement Division made another heroin arrest after surveillance indicated a Queen City man had driven to Lawrence, Mass., to purchase four fingers (each finger contains roughly 10 grams) of heroin.

Hector Cruz Miranda, 22, of Cedar Street was operating a 2009 Toyota Camry May 6 when he returned to the City of Manchester at about 11:30 p.m. and was arrested by police at the intersection of Valley and Lincoln streets.

Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop when Cruz Miranda returned to Manchester and located 43.2 grams of heroin (street value $4,300) and 10 2-milligram Alprazolam tablets (street value $20).

He was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, possession of a controlled drug and falsifying physical evidence.

According to a police narrative, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit and Street Crime Unit both approached the vehicle and spoke with Cruz Miranda. Detective Mark Harrington located 10 prescription pills inside of the vehicle. Cruz Miranda was placed into custody for possession of a controlled drug and a search incident to arrest revealed he was also in possession of heroin.

He was transported to police headquarters and booked without incident. He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on May 7.
