MANCHESTER, NH – A major water main break on South Beech Street has caused Manchester Water Works to shut off water in the immediate area and reroute traffic.

Manchester Police advise traffic traveling east and west on Route 293 will still be able to use Exit 2 (Brown Avenue) affording travel south on Brown Avenue toward the Manchester Boston Regional Airport or Litchfield. However motorists heading to the airport should allow extra travel time due to traffic congestion.

Screen Shot 2015-10-07 at 11.02.03 AMTraffic will not be allowed to travel on Brown Avenue northerly from the 293 overpass. Traffic traveling south on South Beech Street will not have access to Brown Avenue. All traffic will be detoured from South Beech Street to Presidential Road.

Bow Avenue will not have access from Brown Avenue.

Manchester Highway Department is setting up traffic barricades and detour signs.

Just before 10 a.m. Bedford Police alerted residents that the water main break is expected to affect the water pressure in the South River Road corridor of Bedford, resulting in some ares of Bedford to also experience outages due to pressure drop.

Manchester Water Works estimates traffic detours and time of repair to be a minimum of 24 hours. Crews are on site assessing the situation and will be making repairs throughout the day.
