Flash flooding leaves motorists stranded

MANCHESTER, NH – Multiple cars were stranded in high water on West Clarke Street, and drivers had to be rescued.

Other areas affected included Varney Street, South Main Street, Valley Street, Malvern Street, Bridge Street, Log Street, Commercial Street, and Webster Street at Maple Street.

At about 9 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning due to heavy rain moving into Hillsborough County after three inches of rain had already fallen. An additional two inches of rain was expected to fall before the warning expired at 11 p.m.

Manchester Police issued a local travel advisory urging motorists to stay off the roads except for emergency travel until 11 p.m.
