MANCHESTER, NH – A Londonderry man was charged with endangering a child after he allegedly visited a known drug house in Manchester, leaving a 4-year-old in the back seat for about 20 minutes before driving to a local park where he was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of crack.

On Oct. 13 members of the Special Enforcement Divisions’ Street Crime Unit were conducting a plain clothes assignment on the city’s east side when they noticed a man, later identified as David Emerson, 31, of Londonderry, enter a suspected drug house.

Emerson entered the apartment building at approximately 7:10 p.m. after parking a Jeep in front of the address. Detectives stated he was inside of the building for at least 20 minutes before leaving the area in the Jeep. Emerson failed to use a turn signal on Bridge Street, so detectives followed him toward Derryfield Park where Emerson parked his Jeep. Detectives approached him as he sat in the driver’s seat, and immediately observed an off-white rock-like substance in his center console and a young child in the back seat of the vehicle. Emerson was taken out of the vehicle and placed into custody. They also located a glass pipe on the driver’s seat and a small amount of crack cocaine in the center console.

The child was transported to police headquarters by members of the juvenile unit. The 4-year-old child was picked up by his mother a short time later.

Emerson was charged with endangering the welfare of a child; and possession of a controlled drug (crack cocaine). He was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 14, 2016.
