MANCHESTER, NH — A woman driving on I-93 was distracted by her cigarettes and coffee causing her to crashing into the exit sign and flip her SUV on its roof.

At about 7 a.m.  July 4 Trooper Mark Suttmeier of the New Hampshire State Police – Troop B Barracks took a report from a passing motorist of an SUV rollover on Interstate 93 north at exit 6/Candia Rod.  Upon arrival Trooper Suttmeier observed a red 1998 GMC Jimmy resting on its roof with two occupants sitting on the ground next to the vehicle. Motorists stopped to help, including several nurses, who were aiding the victims, identified as Angela and Stephen Sullivan of Derry.

Police said Angela Sullivan was driving when she lost control of the SUV while reaching for her cigarettes and spilled her coffee. She struck the “Exit 6”  sign’ before over correcting and traveling off the right hand side of the off ramp where she struck an embankment and rolled the SUV.  She was transported by Manchester Fire and EMS to the Elliot Hospital where she received treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Stephen Sullivan refused treatment and was released from the scene.
