MANCHESTER, NH – With Medicare’s open enrollment just beginning, a new educational organization called Medicare Choices New Hampshire has formed with the goal of providing prospective enrollees an unfiltered view of Medicare coverage.

The organization, which recently launched an interactive website – MedicareChoicesNH.org – believes that Medicare Advantage plans are underutilized by Hillsborough County seniors.

“We decided to launch a pilot program in Hillsborough County when we learned that the area lags behind other parts of the country when it comes to Medicare Advantage enrollment,” said Richard Cullen, spokesman for the organization. “While Medicare Advantage plans might not be right for everyone, we do think that there are lot of people in the area who could benefit from what a majority of Medicare Advantage options have to offer: multiple essential services (vision, dental, wellness) covered under one plan, one simple card for all benefits, and very low or zero monthly premiums.”

“When it comes to health insurance in general, it can be difficult to determine how one type of plan compares to the rest,” Cullen continued. “With all of the advertising and political coverage out there, we’re tying to cut through the clutter and provide straightforward comparisons about seniors’ Medicare options. We really believe Medicare Advantage plans are a great option for many individuals and families, but we’re not advocating for any particular company or set of plans. We’re not sales people or marketers – we are just providing facts.”

To help educate prospective enrollees during open enrollment, Medicare Choices New Hampshire will be regularly updating its website and Facebook page.

The group encourages people to take a survey and enter their email address for more information.
