MANCHESTER, NH – Food scene news from in and around Manchester including a new restaurant on the West Side, local brewery brings home silver, and a chocolate event you won’t want to miss, plus more.

Sad to see them go. Funktion Spirits & Spoonfuls, located at 931 Elm Street, announced on Facebook that they closed their doors on May 10 after nine months in business.

Opa! Giorgio’s Ristorante, the popular Mediterranean restaurant with locations in Milford and Merrimack, is opening in Manchester at the corner of Granite and Second streets at exit 5. The Manchester location will seat 200, and offer the Italian and Greek dishes Giorgio’s is known for. Look for the restaurant to open at the end of July, in the meantime, take a peek at the menus here.

World class beer in the ‘hood. Earlier this month Great North Aleworks brought home silver in the IPA category from World Beer Cup at the Craft Brewers Conference in Philadelphia from a panel of 253 judges.  This year, the overall competition had 6,596 entries from 1,907 breweries worldwide. Congratulations!

currierBecause more beer. Currier After Hours for June will feature The Art of Beer. Sample New Hampshire microbrews, including selections from Great North Aleworks, 603 Brewery, and Able Ebenezer Brewing Company. In addition, listen to the sounds of  NH singer-songwriter Ryan Williamson and enjoy a guided-conversation about some of the art.  The Art of Beer is free with museum general admission, and  a cash bar and full menu are available at the Winter Garden Café. After Hours is June 2 from 6-9 p.m.

Taking it to the next level. The Grand at Bedford Village Inn opens on June 14. The Grand will feature Lobby Bar, which seats 60 and will feature a small, locally inspired menu. In addition to a lobby bar, you’ll find luxury amenities like a heated, outdoor salt water pool, open year-round.

You can never go wrong with chocolate for a good cause. Tickets are now available for the Chocolate Lovers Fantasy on June 5 at the Radisson, 799 Elm Street, Manchester from noon – 3 p.m. This is the 14th annual chocolate festival that serves as a fundraiser for Caregivers and draws a crowd of more than 1,500 people.
