Man faces DUI in 2-car crash on Lake Avenue

MANCHESTER, NH – Police arrested Chesley Wohner, 44, of Manchester Aug. 22, charged with operating under the influence of liquor/drugs after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Lake Avenue and Lincoln Street.

According to police a 2004 Acura operated by a 58-year-old Manchester woman was heading West on Lake Avenue when her vehicle was struck by a 2014 Dodge pick-up truck operated by Wohner, who failed to stop at a posted stop sign while traveling north on Lincoln Street. His truck struck the driver’s side of the Acura and both vehicles sustained enough damage to be towed from the scene.

Wohner was given a field sobriety test and consequently was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor and/or drugs and placed into custody. A search incident to arrest revealed 25 grams of cocaine, which was located inside his pocket. He was also charged with acts prohibited, possession of a controlled drug. Wohner was transported to police headquarters, but immediately requested medical assistance for difficulties breathing. He was transported to the Elliot Hospital but did not appear to have any significant injury resulting from the crash.

Wohner was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is set to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on September 7, 2016. The woman was not injured in the crash.
