BRONX, NY — The largest drug bust in the history of the Bronx has resulted in 84 arrests, including violent gang members that smuggled drugs such as cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin up and down the East Coast, including to Manchester, according to the New York Post.
A 386-count indictment that included charges of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to distribute narcotics, attempted murder and weapons charges also ties some of those arrested to 22 various shootings in the west Bronx.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said one of the defendants is charged in connection with 11 attempted murders.
“These gangs trafficked narcotics to Manchester and Massachusetts and brought firearms back here. Their greed was matched only by their ferocity,” Clark said in a statement.
The Manchester Police SWAT team raided an Orange Street apartment in June 2015, which ultimately led to the arrest of three New York residents. Investigators also seized over $12,772 in cash along with drugs and four handguns during that raid, resulting in the arrests of: Danzelle Robinson, 23; Gregory Reynoso, 21; and Majestis Adams, 22, all of Bronx, N.Y. They were believed to be part of a more extensive drug and gun running operation throughout the eastern seaboard at that time. Manchester investigators believe these three men were part of the New York crime syndicate.
Of those indicted, 58 face major trafficking charges that call for punishments of up to life in prison. By Thursday afternoon, 31 people had been arrested; 35 were already in state prisons, and 18 were being sought.
The investigation was launched in Nov. of 2014.
