AUBURN, NH – On Oct. 26 at about 8:30 a.m. a resident of 56 Hill Drive confronted an intruder in the basement. The homeowner fired a gun once at the intruder, who fled.

State and local law enforcement agents from Auburn and surrounding towns set up a perimeter and searched for the intruder, but the search was fruitless, ending at Severance Beach.

Police returned to the residence and executed a search warrant, discovering a small marijuana grow operation.

The incident remains under investigation. No further information was available about the confiscated marijuana plants.

The intruder is described as a white male, between 30 to 40 years-old, with gray hair and a gray beard but police said they do not believe there is a danger to the public.
