MANCHESTER, NH – A homeless man was arrested for possession of crack cocaine after police spotted him walking around the city in the early morning hours, acting suspiciously.

On July 27 at approximately 2:30 a.m. while patrolling the area of Lake Avenue and Union Street, Officer Michael McGee’s attention was drawn to a man, later identified as Damarcus Wells, 25, homeless, who was “aimlessly walking” in and out of the roadway and then appeared to be on the lookout for someone while randomly looking into apartment buildings.

When Wells noticed Officer McGee, he walked into an alleyway. Officer McGee was in close proximity and witnessed Wells reach into his pants pocket and toss a white item onto the ground near some garbage cans. Officer McGee detained Wells and located the tossed item, which tested positive for crack cocaine.

Wells was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug and falsifying physical evidence. Wells is currently on probation. New Hampshire State Prison placed a Probation Hold on Wells, where he will be sent back to incarceration. Wells was scheduled to be arraigned July 27 in the 9th Circuit District Manchester.
