MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Food Co-op, a group of dedicated individuals who own a yet-to-be built full-service local products market and community center, announced they will be working toward operating a Mobile Co-op Food Truck that will bring some of the benefits of the Co-op to its members and the greater Manchester community before a physical location opens for business.

The Board of Directors took a hard look at the reality of the timelines leading up to the opening day of a physical store and has decided that a food truck could make local and natural produce and products accessible to the community as soon as this fall.

“We know that our community has been patiently waiting for this co-op to open” says Steven Freeman, Vice President of the Board of Directors, “We will continue to work towards opening day, but in the meantime we have a solution to bring the co-op to our city as soon as this fall, and that solution is a mobile market in the form of a truck.”

HiResThe Co-op will be holding what they are calling a “Kick-Off” party on August 20 at the offices of CCA Global Partners at 5:30 p.m., giving all members an opportunity to develop concepts for the truck through brainstorming ideas and volunteering to assist with building the truck itself.

They will be securing a team of volunteers to help manage this project in an expedited timeframe.

“We have an amazing opportunity to build this mobile market, with more than 1,050 members, we have the network and the passion that is needed to come together, in true co-op fashion, to build something great that will become a wonderful asset to the city of Manchester” says Sarah-Marie Cole, President of the Board of Directors, “We are so excited for our community to benefit from the Co-op – and why not create a great vehicle, literally, that can drive around town and bring local and natural products directly to our members and the community at large.”

Members of the co-op have equal ownership in the business.  The Co-op plans to reach out to all existing members and other business partners to help crowdfund what is needed to get the truck on the road.

“Our goal is to not take away from, or slow, the efforts already put forth to open the physical location but rather add to the Manchester Food Co-op experience by creating this truck”  says Carla Ferrara, Secretary of the Board. “We can do this! It will be exciting, fun and unique to our city.”
