Fight call leads to 2 arrests; police recover stolen gun, machete

MANCHESTER, NH — On July 27 Manchester Police Officers responded just after midnight to the area of Union and Auburn streets for a report of shots fired. While investigating the scene, a fight call came in four blocks away at Union and Grove streets.  Callers reported four males were involved in the fight and one was reportedly armed with a knife.

Officer Gagne arrived on scene and located two of the males matching the description. During the investigation it was discovered that Michael Hughes, 25, of Manchester, was found to be armed with a loaded firearm in his front pocket. Laronn Massey, 23, of Manchester, was allegedly armed with a machete hidden in a sheath under his pant leg. Massey is a convicted felon and therefore prohibited from being in possession of a deadly weapon.

Hughes was placed into custody, and police determined that the loaded firearm in his possession  was reported stolen out of Weare. Hughes was charged with Possession/Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm) and Carrying a Concealed Firearm Without a permit.

Massey was charged with Convicted Felon in Possession of a Deadly Weapon. Both Hughes and Massey were scheduled for arraignment July  27 in the 9th Circuit District Manchester.
