MANCHESTER, NH – Families in Transition (FIT) is in the running to win a $25,000 grant through State Farm Neighborhood Assist, a crowd-sourced philanthropic initiative that lets communities determine where grant funding is awarded. Online votes, now through Friday, November 4, are needed in order for them to win. The money will be used at the organization’s Family Place Head Start Preschool Program in Manchester, NH.

vote“Homeless children have experienced a barrage of traumatic circumstances,” commented Maureen Beauregard, President and Founder of FIT. “This funding will help create child and family specific programming and therapy at the preschool by our licensed Family Therapist. Trauma informed early intervention strategies are essential to helping children and parent manage traumatic stress and lessen the negative impact of these experiences. We need the community to vote for us, each and every day, so that we can win the grant funds,” continued Beauregard.

In order to receive this $25,000 grant, FIT will have to earn enough votes to be in the top 40 of the 200 selected out of the original 2,000 agencies that applied. Voting starts on Wednesday, October 26 and goes until Friday, November 4.
