Muller has more than 40 years of experience in health systems, including 37 years in CEO positions and extensive work in hospital affiliations. IHe joins Elliot Health System after most recently serving as CEO for Marquette General Hospital, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, from 2007 to 2014. While there, Muller led the process of Marquette’s transaction with Duke LifePoint Health, from the strategic planning stages in 2011 until the final close more than two years later.

Prior to that, Muller spent his career as part of the senior leadership team for a variety of hospitals and health systems, including Superior Health Partners in Michigan; West Jefferson Medical Center in Louisiana; and North Broward Hospital District in Florida. Since his time at Marquette, Muller has worked as an independent consultant to healthcare organizations, focusing on quality improvement and staff and physician development.

Muller’s background as a senior-level executive has provided him with critical insights and resources that will benefit the strong senior management team Elliot already has in place. As interim CEO, the hospital’s board is confident Muller will provide the necessary support and specialized advice to allow the Elliot Health System to most effectively focus on day-to-day operations going forward with the Dartmouth Hitchcock negotiations.
