Concord: Woman pulled from SUV after crashing into the Merrimack river

CONCORD, NH — Police are investigating an accident on Oct. 8 that left a driver in critical condition.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. New Hampshire State Police dispatch received a 911 call informing them of a motor vehicle accident on I-93 NB in the area of exit 14 in which an SUV veered to its right, off the road, and into a field along the Merrimack River.

The vehicle continued north through the field where the vehicle eventually became airborne, and crashed into the river. Once State Police and Concord Fire and Rescue arrived on scene they observed a large SUV upside down and completely submerged. Concord Fire and Rescue eventually were able to stabilize the vehicle and extricate one female occupant from the vehicle while it was still submerged.

The woman was transported to the Concord Hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
