MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester business owner Jawed Alibaba Shaikh made his candidacy official Monday, filling the necessary paperwork to run for mayor of Manchester July 13.

“Manchester needs a visionary leader who can transform the City of Manchester and help it to reach its full potential.  We are fortunate to have a beautiful city to live and work, but unfortunately, poor leadership and poor decisions have contributed to our city ranking lowest in overall academic performance, significant drug issues of epidemic proportions, and dated infrastructure.   The current mayor has no concrete plan for economic development, no plan to fix the heroin and/or school issue and there is no accountability as our tax payers monies are mismanaged.  Businesses and families are moving out, if the right action is not taken we will continue to increases in poverty, taxes and crime.

As elected mayor, I would like to see Manchester a beacon of light illuminating our dreams and hopes by providing the best education for our children, safety, economic development and opportunities to empower our youth as future leaders,” said Alibaba in a statement released Monday afternoon.

Alibaba owns multiple businesses, cites philanthropy work among his accomplishments, and is an active member of Community Advisory Board, which meets monthly at the Manchester Police Department.
