CONCORD, NH – A Maine man was arrested Saturday by NH State Police on various charges, including DWI and drug possession, after refusing to pull over on 101 West, even after police flattened his tires. Brian Harrington, 35, of Limington, Maine, ditched his pick-up truck – and his dog – at the bottom of an exit ramp and tried to escape police by running off into the woods.

According to a police narrative, on October 15, 2016, at approximately 5:47 p.m., New Hampshire State Police Troop A dispatch received a report of a Maine registered pick-up truck traveling on I-95 southbound in Portsmouth at a high rate of speed and having lane control problems, to include almost striking a guardrail.

Trooper Matthew Locke, of the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A barracks, was able to catch up to the vehicle and attempted to stop it on Route 101 westbound in Brentwood for speed and lane violations. The vehicle did not stop for Trooper Locke but accelerated in an apparent attempt to escape.   Trooper Locke followed the vehicle west on Route 101 attempting to stop it. Raymond Police were able to deploy stop sticks on Route 101 westbound in the area of Exit 4 and were able to deflate the front and rear tires on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The pickup truck continued westbound until it took Exit 1 in Manchester. At the bottom of the Exit 1 off-ramp the vehicle came to a stop and the operator, later identified as Harrington, fled into the woods, leaving his dog behind
