MANCHESTER, NH— A homeowner tackled a burglar as he attempted to walk out of the man’s basement with  canoe.

Police say the homeowner, Scott Ingle, 42, of Summer St.,  was getting ready for work just before 3 a.m. when he noticed the alleged burglar, John Dufresne, 56, of Manchester, leaving his residence carrying his Old Towne canoe, valued at $1,500.

Ingle tackled Durfresne  and held him down on the ground until Officer Meghan Grant arrived on scene. Dufresne suffered minor injuries, police said.

Dufresne was charged with burglary and appeared for his video arraignment at 8:15 a.m. on July 27.
