A blockbuster blizzard barreled into Manchester Thursday, dumping 14 inches of snow in the Greater Manchester area, preemptively shutting down schools and crippling much of the city.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency, working with state and local emergency management officials, recently completed a Preliminary Damage Assessment, finding that the statewide costs for response efforts to the March blizzard exceeded $2,169,538. READ MORE
Snow continued to fall across the region, burying Manchester in at least a foot of snow by late afternoon. The blizzard will persist – with winds and more snow – until at least 11 p.m., according to National Weather Service meteorologist James Brown, who double-checked his most recent radar images from his outpost in Gray, Maine, to see if there was any chance the storm might fizzle.
