MANCHESTER, NH — NH State Police made five arrests as the result of a sobriety checkpoint set up on South Willow Street Friday night.
On July 15 during the hours of 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday July 16, New Hampshire State Troopers from Troop B in Bedford and officers of the Manchester Police Department stopped 178 vehicles, and operators were screened. Five operators were arrested and one operator was cited for operating after suspension:
- A Manchester driver was arrested for an electronic bench warrant.
- A New Boston man was arrested for disobeying a police officer.
- A Nashua woman was arrested for DWI.
- A Manchester man was arrested for operating after suspension subsequent offense.
- A juvenile was arrested for possession of a controlled drug [editor’s note: the police news release did not specify the drug.]
- A Bow man was cited for operating after suspension, first offense.
State Police Colonel Robert Quinn, Manchester Police Chief Nick Willard, and the officers of their departments consider the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers to be a top priority. They will continue to collaborate and utilize sobriety checkpoints and other means to deter, detect and remove impaired drivers from New Hampshire’s roadways, State Police said.
